Rooms were a good size, the shower (with rain head) was lovely, the beds were comfortable and the room temperature was good. There was a mini bar but tea, coffee and electric jug were included in the room price. The hotel is just up the road from a good pizza restaurant/brewery (Du Canes) and there is also an excellent restaurant on site for a la carte dinner (3 Steps on George). The onsite buffet breakfast is a little expensive but very good quality. We were fortunate to have a small lounge area next to our rooms where we could meet up in the morning and plan our day's activities

We had a hire car, so it was very convenient to find a motel including parking on the premises. It was very well located, and we could walk around in the evenings to restaurants close by and also take photos of the beautiful buildings around this area. It has an old Pub just next door we wished we have visited. The main building, where reception is, is very interesting and kept to the traditional décor. We met the owner and showed us around with some interesting history about the existence of such magnificent building.

The hotel provided a comfortable room, bed and the shower was good. When away, you don't spend a lot of time in your room, so as long as you have a comfy bed and hot shower, everything else falls into place. It did have a restaurant which served pretty good food, so again that is another important feature. You do need to book a table though as the restaurant wasn't all that big. They also provided a complimentary parking space convenient to our room.

Room was spacious, window fittings (curtains) are brilliant at blocking out the light so if you need to get up at a certain time make sure you set an alarm 😉 Bed was comfortable and room had sufficient heating. Plenty of parking on site. Situated within easy walking distance to shops, pubs and restaurants. A great Indian close by called Pickled Evenings can highly recommend. We also had a lovely meal at the hotel restaurant - Three Steps on George.

Ian

The reception staff were excellent - friendly and attentive - and the location is perfect for a short stroll into the CBD and along the river. We sampled local fare at the nearby Dill Pickle Club, a very new and very stylish cocktail bar (L1, 78 St John St) created in a Japanese listening bar style. Can also recommend Metz restaurant (119 St John St) and Frankie's Coffee House (42 George St) for a good, simple brunch in a delightful 60s-style cafe.
